Why I'm Running

Jackson County is at a turning point, and I don't think that's an overstatement.

The property assessment controversy did real damage. Families opened their mailboxes to numbers that made no sense, asked the county for answers, and didn't get them. That kind of thing doesn't just cost people money. It costs the county something harder to rebuild: the basic trust that government is doing its job honestly and competently.

I understand the frustration because I share it.

I'm running because county government should be measured the same way a business is measured: Did you tell the truth? Did you spend the money wisely? Did you get the job done? For my whole career I've worked in places where the answer to those questions had consequences. There was no room to make excuses, only decisions to make and results to deliver. Taxpayers deserve that same standard from the people who spend their money.

My time on the LSR-7 School Board and the Lee's Summit Board of Aeronautical Commissioners has only sharpened that conviction. Public service done right is careful, transparent, and willing to answer hard questions in public.

I'm not running to become a politician. I'm running because I think experience and plain accountability can help put this county back on solid footing. That's the commitment I'm making to the voters of District 6: I'll listen, I'll tell you the truth, and I'll work to earn your trust the only way it can be earned, which is by deserving it.
